An evening shower and damp conditions played spoilsport in the first T20I of the three-match series between India vs Sri Lanka in Guwahati on Sunday (January 5). Now the caravan of the series has moved to Indore where a run-feast is expected in the second game at the Holkar stadium on Tuesday (January 7).
The venue is renowned for producing batsman-friendly wicket and high-scoring encounters. Additionally, since the match will begin at 7 PM local time, dew could be a factor in deciding the outcome, especially in the second half of the match. And in order to counter the wet conditions, the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) has been spraying a special chemical on the outfield for the last three days, as reported by PTI. Furthermore, the grass on the ground was also not being watered since the last three days to minimise the effects of dew.
“We sincerely hope the spectators will get to see fours and sixes raining in the match,” confirmed MPCA chief curator Samander Singh Chauhan.
A capacity crowd is expected at the Holkar stadium and thankfully on the match day, there is no rain threat as of now. The weather for this match promises to be good. Chances of precipitation is pegged at mere 14 per cent for 7 January. Teams will have a cool climate around them for the game with temperature expected to be around 17 degrees Celsius with humidity at 74 percent, according to AccuWeather.
The third and final T20I of the series will be played in Pune on January 10.
