India did not take much time on day three to seal the series win against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens. They did not just win the first pink-ball Test in India, they yet again proved to be the undisputed champions at home.

With this victory, the Indian cricket team registered a number of records. This is under Virat Kohli’s captaincy India’s 7th successive Test victory since winning the Test against West Indies in Antigua this August. It was only under MS Dhoni’s leadership in 2013 that India had won six Test matches back to back- four vs Australia and two vs West Indies.

Thanks to Indian pacers that India defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs to win the series 2-0. This also marked India’s record-extending 12th home series win. After whitewashing South Africa 3-0 to Indians had already surpassed Australia’s 10 successive win streaks by recording their 11th consecutive Test victory on home soil. Indian cricket team also became the only team in the history of Test cricket to win four consecutive Tests by an innings margin.

The skipper now has a record 11 innings win to his name as well and he had surpassed MS Dhoni (9) by beating Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in Indore. Mohammed Azharuddin eight innings wins come after Sourav Ganguly’s seven wins. Kohli is currently the fifth captain with most Test victories with South Africa captain Graeme Smith leading the table with 53 wins from 109 matches. Ricky Ponting is at second place with 48 wins in 77 matches while Steve Waugh is third with 41 wins in 57 matches.
