Rain lashed Trinidad on the eve of the game, forcing the Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian cricket squad for the one-day internationals against the West Indies to use indoor nets before to the first of the three matches in the series, which begins on Friday.
As the final practise session had to be cancelled due to rain on Thursday, the BCCI released a video report on the indoor nets.
"preparing for the first ODI against the West Indies Here is a report from @ShubmanGill on the first net session for #TeamIndia in Trinidad "A video of the indoor training session was shared by BCCI.
Shikhar Dhawan will captain Team India for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies as Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, senior batsman Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, the rescheduled fifth Test of the 2021 series at Lord's, Jasprit Bumrah, and normal skipper Rohit Sharma have all been rested.
Due to the absence of so many notable players from the team, the Indian selectors will put batters Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav, as well as all-rounder Deepak Hooda, to the test.
The Indian squad arrived on a soggy Caribbean island after flying from the UK, where it is currently the warmest summer on record, to Trinidad. In order to prepare for the next games, the team management chose to use the indoor facilities.
The BCCI posted a video of opener Shubman Gill saying, "It's always better to have a knock in the indoor facilities rather than having no session. As we have just come from the UK, we thought that it would be wonderful to have a (outside practise session)."
Gill praised the practise, saying, "It was wonderful because we got to do some specific stuff like playing underarm balls."
According to Gill, the players are excited about the prospect of facing a strong white-ball team like the West Indies.
"We are all quite excited and buzzing about these three ODIs, and I am feeling fantastic. We think that would make a good television series, "Gill exclaimed.
The Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad will host all three of the series' one-day internationals between July 22 and July 27. Following the ODI series, a five-match T20I series will be played between July 29 and August 7, with the final two games taking place in the USA.
