Shakib Al Hasan will miss the rest of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin on 31 October.
Abedin added the extent of the injury is still unknown, and Shakib's availability for the forthcoming series against Pakistan, starting 19 November, will be decided after a report from their national team physiotherapist Julian Calefato.
'Shakib sustained a left lower hamstring strain while fielding during the match against the West Indies. In clinical examination it was diagnosed as an injury of Grade 1 intensity,' explained Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the BCB.
Having lost all three games in the Super 12s, Bangladesh are almost out of the tournament, and will not replace Shakib. They will next play against South Africa on 2 November, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
