Delhi Capitals will have their task cut out when they take on Mumbai Indians in their penultimate match of the league stage on Saturday. The Capitals looked primed to become the first team to qualify for the playoffs when they won seven out of their first nine matches. However, they have gone on to lose three games on the trot since then and thus find themselves in a tricky situation right now. They need to win at least one of their remaining to games to confirm a playoff berth and winning against a strong team like Mumbai in this encounter won’t be easy.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, are sitting pretty at the top of the table with 16 points and are the only team with a confirmed entry into the playoffs. They have been excellent in all departments and have truly shown why they are the defending champions. Even though their skipper Rohit Sharma has missed the last few matches dye to injury, the other players have stepped up well to make up for his absence. With two more games to go, Mumbai will want to finish the League stage with winning momentum. They already had the better of the Capitals once in this season and they will look to do the double over them in this match.
Team News
Rohit Sharma is yet to recover from his injury and will miss out on this match once again. So Mumbai Indians are expected to go with the same XI more or less. Delhi Capitals don’t have any major injury concern though. But they might drop Tushar Deshpande who has been taken for runs in the last few matches. Harshal Patel might start in place of him. Also, Prithvi Shaw might make a comeback to the side in place of Ajinkya Rahane.
