In all likelihood, the Women’s IPL league will be held in Jaipur in the later half of the IPL. The exact venue is yet to be confirmed but Sawai Mansingh Stadium might be handed over the responsibility of hosting the third edition of the league. Four teams will take part this time as a number of international players will get featured.
According to a senior official, “There would be seven matches between four teams in the women’s IPL and Jaipur is likely to host them.” The last edition saw Indian legends Smriti Mandhana (Supernovas), Harmanpreet Kaur (Trailblazers), and Mithali Raj (Velocity) lead their three teams in the league as the Trailblazers emerged as the winners.
The venue for the All-Stars match is yet to be announced as well. Earlier the game was scheduled to be held three days prior to the tournament but now it will be staged after the tournament. Brijesh Patel, the Governing Council Chairman of IPL explained to Sportstar, “We decided to host the match after the tournament because we had to see the performances of the players and only after that we could select the teams.” Regarding the dates Patel also informed, “We are working on it and will finalise a date soon.”
The players for the star-studded game will also be finalized during the tournament according to recent developments. According to a source, the performance of the players taking part in the league will be taken into consideration.
Some franchises were not keen to release their players for this match before the tournament which could be a reason of changed schedule. The charity match will be a contest between two teams. While the players from Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Mumbai Indians will make one team, the players from Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, and Delhi Capitals will represent the second one.
