The confirmations of dates for the much-anticipated 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has provided a breath of fresh air for all India cricket fans and especially to the admirers of MS Dhoni. Since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-final against New Zealand, the former Indian skipper hasn’t appeared in a competitive set-up. Now, with the return of IPL, Dhoni will be also make a comeback to the cricket field and before leaving for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to lead the Chennai Super Kings, he was seen batting at the nets of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) International Stadium in Ranchi.
“He visited the JSCA International Stadium Complex last week. He practised at the indoor facility using bowling machine,” on condition of anonymity a JSCA office-bearer has been quoted saying by The New Indian Express.
“He did batting practice for two days over the weekend, but has not returned since. I honestly don’t know what are his plans or whether he will come back for training. We only know he has visited the facility for practice,” the source further added.
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between September 19 to November 10 across three venues in the UAE. The players and support staffs will leave for Dubai at least a month prior to the start of the tournament.
Upon reaching, they have to stay in quarantine for seven days as a precautionary measure amid of the global COVID-19 outbreak. Only after complying to all the required health related protocols, players can join the pre-season camps, organised by their respective franchises.
