The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Monday (October 12) expressed it’s official reaction after the bowling action of its ace spinner Sunil Narine got reported by the on-field umpires following his last outing against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi on Saturday (October 10).

The West Indies mystery spinner, who successfully defended 14 runs in the last over against Punjab has been placed on the warning list by the Indian Premier League (IPL) officials. Though he is still eligible to bowl but in case Narine receives any further warning, he will be barred from bowling in the competition until cleared by the BCCI Suspect Bowling Action Committee.

Here is a closer look at Narine’s new bowling action:

“This came as a surprise to the franchise and Mr. Narine, considering he has played over 115 games in the IPL since 2012 and as many as 68 games since 2015, when he was last reported during the IPL season for a suspect action before being subsequently cleared completely by SRASSC, an ICC accredited facility,” KKR said in an official statement.

“Having said this, we are respectful of the process that the IPL has put in place to have his action reviewed, and are working closely with the IPL in this matter. We are hopeful that there would be an appropriate resolution quickly. We appreciate the cooperation being extended by the IPL in expediting this matter,” KKR added.

Since 2012 Narine is with the KKR franchise and has been a key figure in their scheme of things. Though in between his action got reported on multiple occasions in IPL and other T20 leagues. Last season, he worked hard on his new bowling action and played the IPL without any further issue. However, now it seems Narine once again needs to go back to the nets and correct his flaws.

In this year’s IPL, he has has five wickets in six matches.
