The UAE government might permit the entry of spectators for the remaining 31 games of the Indian Premier League 2021, albeit under certain conditions. Only those who have got vaccinated against COVID-19 can attend the game.
As per reports in Cricbuzz, the BCCI and Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) have no objection to allowing the vaccinated spectators to fill up to 50% of the stadium capacity.
Moreover, several officials of the BCCI, including its secretary Jay Shah, has already departed to the UAE to discuss logistics and other pressing issues for the tournament.
Although the schedules is yet to be announced, it is understood that the UAE-leg of the IPL 2021 is likely to commence from September 19. There will be as many as ten double-headers to fit the tournament in a 21-day window.
The BCCI is in talks with its West Indian counterpart to advance the CPL 2021 by a week to ensure some big names do not miss the initial matches of the IPL. The Caribbean Premier League 2021 commences on August 28, and the final will take place on September 19.
There is still no confirmation on the availability of the players from Australia, England, and South Africa, Further, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) director, Ashley Giles, has already stated that the board will not allow their contracted players to feature in the remainder of IPL 2021.
