Suresh Raina’s inspiring 36-ball 54 went in vain as Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 7 wickets on Saturday (10 April) in Match 2 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
IPL 2021: Orange Cap, Purple Cap, points table after Match 2 (CSK vs DC)
Shikhar Dhawan bagged the Man of the Match trophy after picking up three catches during CSK’s innings and later scoring 85 at a strike rate of just under 160. Dhawan, along with his opening partner, Prithvi Shaw (72 off 38) powered the Capitals to get the better of MS Dhoni’s Super Kings. Here is what they said on social media.

Dhawan was in magnificent form in IPL 2020 too, scoring 618 runs at a strike rate of just under 145. He started the new season from just where he left in the UAE. India’s national team coach Ravi Shastri was in awe after witnessing the Dhawan-Shaw symphony.

Suresh Raina celebrated his return to professional cricket after more than a year with a delightful fifty. If you think an in-form Raina is always a treat for sore eyes, here is good news: you have Irfan Pathan and Aakash Chopra for company.
This is what we were missing during the last season. #MrIPL @ImRaina

Wasim Jaffer, now batting coach of Punjab Kings, could not resist a (probably obvious) wordplay on The Shawshank Redemption. The word ‘redemption’ was not used loosely. Shaw had an ordinary IPL 2020 and failed in his only Test match in Australia. However, his recent form in domestic cricket helped him to start the new season with a bang.

Sam Curran, who got new fans after his unbeaten 95 against India in the decider of the recently concluded ODI series, seems on course to set IPL 2021 on fire. His 15-ball 34 found appreciation from Michael Vaughan.
What a fantastic cricketer @CurranSM is … love watching him play … #IPL2021

A two-ball duck was not the start MS Dhoni would have wanted in the IPL 2021. This was only the fourth duck for Thala in the IPL.
