Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) jumped to the top of the points table with a 1-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC), on 27 April in Match 22 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rishabh Pant & co. are now currently placed at third, with four wins out of six matches.

Earlier, AB de Villiers set the stage on fire with his unbeaten 75 in 42 balls. He smacked five massive sixes in that innings, three of which came in the last over, bowled by Marcus Stoinis.

In reply, Shimron Hetmyer (53* off 25) scared the Red and Gold Army in the final stage of the game. However, it all went in vain. Here is what they said on social media.

Harsha Bhogle appreciated Mohammed Siraj’s gesture after the latter gave a consoling hug to Hetmyer after the match.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner called de Villiers his ‘idol’ and a ‘legend’ after the latter single-handedly took RCB to a challenging total in the first innings. Earlier, de Villiers became the second overseas player after Warner to cross the 5000-run mark in the IPL.

Joy Bhattacharjya enjoyed the way Ishant Sharma knocked out Devdutt Padikkal’s stumps. Remember, this was his Ishant’s first IPL match in two years.

AB de Villiers became the quickest in the IPL history to hit 5000 runs in the tournament.
