Rajasthan Royals (RR) pulled out a late heist against Delhi Capitals (DC) to taste their first victory of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, on Thursday, 15 April.
Skipper Rishabh Pant’s half-century propelled the Capitals to a competitive total of 147/8. Jaydev Unadkat was the pick of the Rajasthan bowlers, and he got the better of both Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan in the powerplay to push Delhi on the back foot.
Chasing 148, the Royals too lost both their openers early in the game. Sanju Samson, the centurion of the last match, departed quickly after miscuing a drive off Kagiso Rabada in the fourth over.
David Miller (62 in 43 balls) scored a gusty half-century to bring the Royals back into the game. Chris Morris (36 not out off 18) provided the finishing touch with an explosive cameo that saw his team across the line. Here is how they reacted on Twitter:
Irfan Pathan was impressed with Captain Pant. He scored 51 off just 32 deliveries.
Captains knock that @RishabhPant17 #wellplayed

Pant got run out while trying to steal a single off Riyan Parag. Why bother about singles when you can hit six with incredible ease? This is what many thought, or at least Aakash Chopra.

Now here is a surprise. Rishabh Pant scored nine boundaries but none of them was a six.
This is the FIRST TIME in IPL history that a 20-over batting innings at the Wankhede Stadium has witnessed ZERO sixes. #IPL2021

In the end, the fireworks of Morris β the most expensive overseas cricketer in IPL history β was a pure class.
Wow, Chris Morris. Such clean hitting.
