Royal Challengers Bangalore started their Indian Premier League 2021 campaign with a two-wicket win against Mumbai Indians off the last ball of the match, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai. Bangalore needed a mere 7 runs off the last over, by Hanco Jansen, but Krunal Pandya ran out AB de Villiers to bring Mumbai back into the match. However, Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel kept their calm to get the two runs Bangalore needed off the last two balls.
De Villiers’ run out left him two short of a brilliant fifty. Not only that, but he also finished a run behind Chris Lynn, who had scored 49 earlier in the day. However, de Villiers struck at an astonishing 178. Three others (Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav) scored more than 30.
