Punjab Kings (PBKS) roared back with a nine-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Match 17 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. They won with 14 balls to spare.

Riding on Rohit Sharma’s 63, Mumbai posted a below-par 131/6 after being asked to bat. In reply, KL Rahul (60*) and Chris Gayle (43*) helped Punjab chase down the total with ease.

Following their innings, both skippers jumped to the top three among the highest run-scorers this season. Rahul is currently sitting at second, with 221 runs in five matches, striking at 133. Rohit, however, is just behind him, with 201.

Purple Cap

On a slow and low Chennai pitch, Rahul and Gayle ensured the Mumbai spinners did not have a memorable night against Punjab. Rahul Chahar, their highest-wicket taker, bagged the only wicket in the innings. He is at second place among the highest wicket-takers list, with nine wickets in five matches, including a four-wicket haul.
