Delhi Capitals (DC), runners-up last season, began the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign with a seven-wicket win over MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday (April 10) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Earlier in the match, Chinna Thala Suresh Raina made a grand comeback into the tournament by scoring 54 runs with a strike rate of exactly 150. Raina, along with Moeen Ali (36 off 24), Sam Curran (34 off 15) played pivotal roles for Yellow Army to post 188/7 after 20 overs. CSK’s Ambati Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja also crossed 20.
In response, openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan started off the Capitals innings with a flier. Shaw scored 72, laced with nine boundaries and three maximums, with a strike rate of just under 190. Dhawan, on the other hand, hit 85 runs (in 54 balls), striking at 157.41.

The Match Day 2 of IPL 2021 was not a day to remember for the bowlers, especially spinners. They were being hit all over the stadium on most of the occasions, although some of them did not do too poorly.
For Delhi, spinners R Ashwin (1-47) and Amit Mishra (0-27 off 3 overs) were expensive compared to the pacers, Chris Woakes (2-18 off 3) and Avesh Khan (2-23). Tom Curran, too, picked up a wicket but conceded 40 in his four overs.
For Chennai, Shardul Thakur (2-53 in 3.4 overs) and Dwayne Bravo (1-28) only among the wicket-takers.
