IPL 2021: Orange Cap, Purple Cap, points table after Match 21 (PBKS vs KKR)

Match 21 of the Indian Premier League 2021 saw Kolkata Knight Riders register their second victory of the campaign after chasing down by a mediocre target of 124 with 20 balls to spare. PBKS succumbed to their fourth defeat of the season.

Eoin Morgan and Rahul Tripathi showed great composure to arrest the collapse, while Dinesh Karthik finished the match with a terrific pull off Arshdeep Singh. Prasidh Krishna picked up three wickets, while Sunil Narine and Pat Cummins finished with two wickets each to restrict PBKS to 123/9 in 20 overs.

Orange Cap

KL Rahul scored 19 runs off 20 deliveries before holing out an easy catch to Narine. With 240 runs in six innings, Rahul is positioned at second in the list. Tripathi’s 32-ball 41 came at a crucial juncture for the KKR, and he forged a much-needed partnership with the skipper Morgan. He is at the tenth position.

Purple Cap

Prasidh was the pick of the KKR bowlers as he returned figures of 3-30 in four overs. He has picked up eight wickets in six matches and is currently the leading wicket-taker for KKR. He finds himself at sixth place, a wicket ahead of teammates Andre Russell and Varun Chakravarthy and Punjab’s Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami. Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore currently holds the Purple Cap.

Points Table

KKR’s five-wicket victory took them to the fifth position in the points table. Punjab, on the other hand, has slipped to sixth place. Chennai Super Kings is at the top of the points table by virtue of an impressive run rate.
