Rajasthan Royals (RR) have signed South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee as the replacement for Liam Livingstone halfway through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Coetzee, 20, has played eight T20 matches. He has picked nine scalps so far, averaging 23. He has got the five-wicket haul once in his six-match List A career.
Livingstone had pulled out from IPL due to bio-bubble fatigue. Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were already ruled themselves out due to injuries. Andrew Tye, too, left India amidst Covid-19 scars. The addition of Coetzee, along with countrymate Rassie van der Dussen, has now given the Rajasthan management six overseas options for the remainder of the season.
Rajasthan are currently placed at seventh in the points table, with two wins in six matches. They will square off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) next in Match 28 of the IPL 2021 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
