Chennai Super Kings have roped in Matheesha Pathirana as Adam Milne's replacement for Indian Premier League 2022. Milne was ruled out of the tournament after he sustained a hamstring injury during the first game against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Pathirana, a 19-year-old fast bowler from Sri Lanka, was part of the Under-19 World Cup squads in 2020 and 2022. He picked up seven wickets in four games in West Indies earlier this year.
He is known as 'Junior Malinga' due to his side-on, roundarm action. Chennai acquired his service at the base price of INR 20 lakh.
It has been a disastrous season for Chennai. They have won only once in six attempts. One more defeat will bring them on the brink of elimination.
