Lucknow Super Giants named Andrew Tye as a replacement for IPL 2022. They got Tye at his base price of INR 1 crore. Lucknow had bought Wood for INR 7 crores at the mega auction, but he got injured during the first Test match in the West Indies in Antigua earlier this month.

Tye has featured in 32 T20Is for Australia, and spearheads the Perth Scorchers' pace attack in the Big Bash League. His three-wicket haul set up a 79-run victory for the Scorchers in the final of BBL 2022.

Tye has picked up 40 wickets in 27 IPL games so far. He won the Purple Cap in 2018, when he picked up 24 wickets for Kings XI Punjab (not Punjab Kings). At Lucknow, he will complete the pace unit that already have Mark Wood and Dushmantha Chameera.
