On Sunday night, Mumbai Indians (MI) will finally play at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium, for the first time in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In a quest to win their maiden game in this year's championship, Rohit Sharma's men will take on K.L. Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 37 of IPL 2022.
Five-time champions Mumbai have now become the only team to start an IPL season with seven successive defeats. Their miserable batting, especially at the top, combined with a toothless bowling attack, has led to this season's collective failure. The unavailability of Jofra Archer has emerged as a huge factor as well. The performances of Suryakumar Yadav, Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma and Jaydev Unadkat have been only plus points for them.
Lucknow, on the other end, have improved as the tournament has progressed. With bat, Rahul seems to have found his touch, while the likes of Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi have put together some excellent bowling performances to help their team to win four out of their seven games so far.
In their first meeting of this season at Brabourne, Rahul scored an unbeaten ton and Avesh Khan got 3-30 as Lucknow beat Mumbai by 18 runs.
