Kolkata lost their openers, Venkatesh Iyer and Aaron Finch, inside five overs. The latter was bowled by Chetan Sakariya, who was playing his first game of IPL 2022. Kuldeep then got Baba Indrajith and Sunil Narine with consecutive balls. Shreyas Iyer kept the scoreboard ticking with a 37-ball 42.
