Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns in Match 56 of the 2022 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) at the D.Y. Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai on Monday night. While Mumbai have been knocked out of the competition, Kolkata are still in with a mathematical chance of making it to the Playoffs.
It has been an unsuccessful season for the teams, both of whom have have struggled to find any momentum. Kolkata started their season by winning three of their first four matches, but their performance went downhill as the tournament went on, exposing their overdependence on Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. Shreyas Iyer's team has won only one of their last seven matches. One can expect a few changes in their line-up for this match.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma's Mumbai lost their first eight games to start their this season. The five-time champions were unable to figure out the best XI. Lack of form of their key players like Rohit, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard and Jasprit Bumrah did not help their cause either.
Nevertheless, they seem to have rediscovered a bit of their mojo in their last two games against Rajasthan and Gujarat. Hence, coming into this game with two back-to-back victories, Mumbai would like continue their momentum at this business end of the league stage.
