The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised the schedule for the mega auction for IPL 2022. As per Cricbuzz, it will be held in Bengaluru on 12 and 13 February.
The first day of the auction clashes with the second ODI between India and the West Indies. However, the BCCI official confirmed that the schedule is final.
'It has been clarified to us that the match and auction are two different things and both will go ahead,' a franchise official told Cricbuzz.
The two new franchises – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – have a salary purse of INR 90 crores. Among the eight existing franchises, Punjab Kings will go into the auction with INR 72 crores to spend, while Delhi Capitals have the lowest budget, of INR 47.5 crores. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders can splurge INR 48 crores each.
More than a thousand players from across the world are expected to participate, and about 200 to 220 are likely to go under the hammer.
