The opening game of the Indian Premier League 2022 will feature last year's finalists, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, on 26 March, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The two new franchises, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, will be up against each other in their first match, on 28 March.
Twelve double-headers are scheduled over the course of the league stage, six each on Saturdays and Sundays. The first match on these days will begin at 15:30 IST, while all evening games will start at on 19:30 IST.
All 70 league matches will be held across four venues in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune. Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, and DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai will host 20 matches each, while Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai and MCA Stadium, Pune will host 15 each. The BCCI will soon announce the venues for the Playoffs.
