According to a report in Cricbuzz, the BCCI has confirmed that 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League will start from 26 March. The BCCI has acquiesced to the broadcaster's demand of starting the tournament on Saturday, 26 March, so that a double-header can be scheduled the next day.
All 70 matches of the league stage will be held in Maharashtra. Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will share 55 matches, while the remaining 15 will be staged at MCA International Stadium, Pune.
'The IPL will kick off on March 26, the full schedule will come soon. We will also have crowds but as per the policy of the Maharashtra government. Whether it will be 25 or 50 per cent of the stadium capacity will be decided by the government instruction,' IPL chairman Brijesh Patel told Cricbuzz.
The BCCI are yet to confirm the venues for the Playoffs. The two new franchises, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, make this year's IPL a ten-team contest.
