The IPL 2023 Player Auction will take place on December 23 in Kochi, and a total of 405 cricketers will be up for bid.

From the initial list of 991 participants, a total of 369 individuals were shortlisted by 10 teams. A media release from the league stated that 36 more players were subsequently requested by teams and were added to the final list, bringing the total number of players to be offered at the IPL 2023 Auction to 405 players.

Out of the 405 players, 273 are Indians and 132 are from other countries, including four from associate countries. There are 119 total capped players, 282 uncapped players, and 4 players from associate countries.

There are currently 87 places total, 30 of which are reserved for players from abroad. The highest reserve fee is Rs 2 crore, with 19 foreign players choosing to be included in the top tier.

As previously reported, prominent players with a maximum reserve price of Rs 2 crore include England Test captain Ben Stokes, all-rounder Sam Curran, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.

Along with Stokes, Curran, Green, and Williamson, other notable names who have been placed in the top bracket include Nicholas Pooran, Chris Jordan, Rilee Rossouw, and Rassie van der Dussen.

There are now 11 players in the auction with a starting bid of Rs 1.5 crore. The two cricketers from India with a base price of Rs 1 crore are Manish Pandey and Mayank Agarwal.

According to the press release, the IPL Auction will begin on December 23 at 14:30 IST.

Last month, franchises had announced the list of their retained and released players and the Sunrisers had the largest purse (Rs 42.25 crore) for the auction, followed by Punjab (Rs 32.20 crore), Lucknow (Rs 23.35 crore), Mumbai (Rs 20.55 crore), Chennai (Rs 20.45 crore), Delhi (Rs 19.45 crore), Gujarat (Rs 19.25 crore), Rajasthan Royals (Rs 13.2 crore), RCB (Rs 8.75 crore) and KKR (Rs 7.05 crore).
