Prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, Wasim Jaffer, a former India cricketer, was re-hired as the batting coach of the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Prior to the IPL 2022 mega-auction earlier this year, the 44-year-old resigned from his position as the batting coach for the PBKS team. He had previously worked with the team for three seasons before joining the Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) in 2019.
Charl Langeveldt, a former South African cricketer, has been hired by the team as their new fast bowling coach. Brad Haddin, a former Australian cricketer, has been hired to serve as the team's assistant coach.
Shikhar Dhawan and Trevor Bayliss were already named as the team's captain and head coach, respectively, by Punjab Kings. During the IPL 2023 player retention deadline day on Tuesday, Mayank Agarwal was replaced by Dhawan and Anil Kumble by Bayliss. Agarwal was let go by the team.
With up to 16 players still under contract, Punjab will still have $32.2 million available for the IPL 2023 auction, which is slated to take place on December 23 in Kochi.
