The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted the Letter of Intent to the CVC-owned Ahmedabad franchise in the IPL. CVC bought the franchise for INR 5,625 crores, but has had to wait for legal clearance due to their involvement in a betting firm in Europe.
'The two teams have been cleared and we will issue the Letter of Intent (LoI) after tomorrow's GC meeting. The teams are through by all practical purposes,' Brijesh Patel, the IPL chair told Cricbuzz.
The franchise will soon start the process of assembling their squad. They are allowed to sign three players before the mega auction, which is slated to take place next month in Bengaluru.
As per a report in PTI, they are likely to rope in Hardik Pandya as the captain, while Rashid Khan and Ishan Kishan are on their radar. On the other hand, the Lucknow franchise is likely to go ahead with KL Rahul as the captain. The 2022 edition of the IPL is scheduled to begin on 2 April.
