Ireland and the United Arab Emirates confirmed their spots in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 after winning their respective semi-finals at Al Amerat Cricket Ground on Tuesday, 22 February. The teams will now meet in the final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier on Thursday, 24 February.
UAE beat Nepal by 68 runs to snap the three-match winning streak of the latter. Ahmed Raza was named Player of the Match for his five-wicket haul, but it was Junaid Siddique who triggered the collapse by picking three wickets in his opening spell.
Earlier, Muhammad Wasim scored 70 in 48 balls, and Vriitya Aravind 46 in 23, as the UAE scored 175/7. For Nepal, Jitendra Mukhiya and Abinash Bohara claimed three wickets each.
In the other semi-final, Ireland beat Oman by 56 runs. Chasing chasing 166, Oman were bowled out for 109. Simi Singh (3-20) was the pick of the Irish bowlers, while Josh Little, Craig Young, and Andy McBrine took two wickets each.
This will be the seventh T20 World Cup appearance for Ireland, who were the only Full Member side in Qualifier A.
