Shreyas Iyer, David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Faf du Plessis, R. Ashwin, Trent Boult, Pat Cummins, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Shami are the 10 players who will be part of the marquee set of the 2022 IPL mega auctions, scheduled for 12 and 13 February in Bengaluru.
Of the 590 cricketers, there are 228 capped players, 355 uncapped, and seven from Associate Nations. After the marquee set, the auction will continue with alternate sets of capped and uncapped players.
The IPL revealed its final auction pool on 1 February. The player count has been approximately halved from the original list of 1,214 players to 590, based on the wishlist of the ten franchises. The final list includes 44 new names, added to the auction pool after the franchises’ requests.
One of those 44 is Jofra Archer. The ECB recently announced that Archer was in the final stages of his recovery from elbow surgery and will be in action in June. IPL chief operating officer Hemang Amin told ESPNCricinfo that Archer was ‘unlikely’ to play in IPL 2022. If any franchise picks him, they will not be able to get a replacement either.
