Ravindra Jadeja's impressive performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has impressed former India batter Aakash Chopra. Chopra believes that Jadeja's batting has given him the confidence to display his complete skill set in the longest format of the game.
Jadeja, the left-arm spinner, has been in excellent form in the series against Australia, claiming a five-wicket haul and scoring a half-century in the opening Test. He then recorded his best bowling figures in an innings in Test cricket, taking seven wickets to help India secure a six-wicket win in the second Test in Delhi. As a result, he was named Player of the Match on both occasions.
Chopra believes that Jadeja's recent success is due to his batting, which has given him confidence in his overall game. "It is Jadeja's batting I think which has made him the player he is right now," he said in an interview with ESPNCricinfo. "Just the confidence in his complete skill set, his entire package has made him a player who has got this immense self-belief."
Jadeja's success is all the more impressive given that he has only recently returned from a knee injury that sidelined him for six months. He played in the Ranji Trophy to prepare for the India-Australia series.
With India now holding an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series, Jadeja will be hoping to maintain his impressive form in the remaining matches.
