The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday that star speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been included to India's team for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Due to a back injury, Bumrah has been out of commission since September 2022 and was thereby disqualified from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
"The National Cricket Academy has deemed the bowler fit after he underwent rehabilitation (NCA). He will soon join the Team India ODI lineup "said the BCCI in a statement.
Beginning January 10 in Guwahati, the ODI series versus Sri Lanka will be played. On January 12 and 15, respectively, matches two and three will be held in Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata.
Bumrah was initially left out of the India ODI team when it was revealed in December, according to rumours that the BCCI was hesitant to insert the pace bowler too quickly into the lineup.
Besides Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh are the other pacers in the squad with all-rounder Hardik Pandya also in the mix.
Updated squad for Sri Lanka ODIs: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh.
