Justin Langer has resigned as head coach of the Australia Men. Langer's contract was about to expire in June 2022, and Cricket Australia said he turned down a short-term extension.

Langer had replaced Darren Lehmann in 2018 in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town. He left, having won the T20 World Cup and twice retained The Ashes.

Langer's management team the Dynamic Sports and Entertain Group (DSEG) confirmed his resignation and added. ‘The resignation follows a meeting with Cricket Australia last evening. The resignation is effective immediately’.

CA chief Nick Hockley said, ‘We are naturally disappointed Justin has decided against continuing as coach but respect his decision and wish him all the best in the future. Justin has been an outstanding coach of the Australian men's team over the past four years. He has restored the trust in the team and his legacy is assured’.

Andrew McDonald, Australia men’s assistant coach, has been appointed interim head coach and is likely to be with the side when they tour Pakistan for the first time in 24 years in March. They will play three Tests, three ODIs and one T20I in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
