The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, a new T20 event created by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and dedicated to the late HRH Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, a former KSCA president and the Maharaja of Mysore, was announced on Saturday. The competition will take place in Mysore from August 7 to August 26.
In a star-studded ceremony held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the tournament's prized trophy and logo were unveiled by Roger Binny, president of the KSCA, Santosh Menon, secretary of the KSCA, and Vinay Mruthyunjaya, treasurer of the KSCA. The competition is sometimes viewed as the successor to the now-defunct Karnataka Premier League T20 competition.
"In 2005, KSCA started the process for a whole new game format, providing India its first experience with a T20 match through the Bradman Cup. The Karnataka Premier Competition was subsequently introduced in 2009, and eight successful seasons of this exciting league saw the emergence of numerous up-and-coming athletes."
The former India all-rounder and a member of the 1983 Men's Cricket World Cup winning team, Binny, said, "We have decided to roll out the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 with an aim to continue to provide our cricketers with the right platform to perform and be ready for the next big leap in their cricketing career."
Six teams from cities including Bengaluru, Mysore, Hubli, Shivamogga, Raichur, and Mangalore will compete for the tournament's top prizes. The top cricketers from Karnataka are anticipated to play in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, including Mayank Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal, Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Manish Pandey, Jagadeesha Suchith, Karun Nair, Abhinav Manohar, KC Cariappa, Pravin Dubey, and Abhimanyu Mithun.
"The first leg of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 will begin on August 7 in Mysore, with matches taking place at the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Ground. There will be a total of 18 matches in Mysore, then a total of 16 matches, including the championship game, will take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru."
"The competition will be open to all of the finest cricketers who are 35 years old or younger. A player draught will be used to create the teams, and the KSCA will choose the captains and vice captains for each team as well as allocate support personnel to each of the six teams "affirmed Menon.
Emerging stars from the state will get the chance to shine during the two-week T20 extravaganza, with all matches being broadcast live on Star Sports 2 and Star Sports Kannada. They will have the chance to perform in front of sold-out crowds, under floodlights, and in the spotlight. For increased viewership, the competition will also be live streamed on the Fancode app.
