ICC has released their latest T20I rankings and KL Rahul has visibly gained from the series against New Zealand. Apart from KL, India’s star performer Jasprit Bumrah has benefited as well.
KL, who was earlier sixth in the list has moved up four places after his brilliant showcase in India’s historic 5-0 win. KL Rahul scored 224 runs in five games (56, 57 not out, 27, 39, and 45) that included two half centuries. The Man-of-the-Series currently has 823 points in the top ten table led by Pakistan’s Babar Azam with 879 points. KL Rahul’s good form continues and his dual role has proved to be a solution for India’s middle order issues. KL’s opening partner Rohit Sharma has also improved enough and entered the top ten list. Sharma has moved up to 10th position after hitting two fifties in the series. The skipper Virat Kohli, on the other hand has successfully retained his position (9th) with 673 points.
Jasprit Bumrah was spectacular especially in the final T20I where he was named Man-of-the-Match for his terrific spell of 3/12. No wonder, he has taken a huge leap of 26 places to reach 11th spot. Bumrah is now sharing the place with Sheldon Cottrell from West Indies. Indian cricket team is now 4th in the ICC’s team rankings for T20I Internationals behind Pakistan, Australia, and England.
