Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant have been rested for the third and final T20I against West Indies, scheduled at Eden Gardens on 20 February.
As per some reports, they will also miss the upcoming T20I series versus Sri Lanka. They will join the squad ahead of the Test series, which begins next month.
Pant was adjudged Player of the Match for his unbeaten 52 that helped India reach a steep total in the second T20I. India won the game by eight runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.
'It’s never easy playing continuously with bubbles but when I started playing, this is what I wanted to do, Pant said at the post-match presentation.
Kohli, too, struck 52 before getting bowled by Roston Chase.
Their absence will give the Indian team management an opportunity to test the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, as all of them are yet to feature in the ongoing T20I series.
