In a heartening piece of news emerging from Kolkata, a local cricket club named ‘Rajasthan Club’ on Tuesday distributed masks and gloves to all the groundsmen of Kolkata Maidan, Eden Gardens and JU University second campus ground.
Also, on the occasion of was Bengali New Year, clothes were gifted to each of the groundsmen for them as well as their wives.
The groundsmen, who have currently gone back to their homes, would be given their set on their return as provisions have been made to cater to more than 150 groundsmen, said the club.
Similarly, for other cricket grounds outside maidan area, clothes as well as masks and gloves would be distributed once the groundsmen are back to their respective grounds.
CAB had earlier donated a sum of Rs 25 lakh to the state administration with president Avishek shelling Rs 5 lakh.
CAB office bearers, treasurer, veterans of the club and even umpires have all contributed towards the cause.
All the three members of the differently-abled committee of the CAB too contributed to the West Bengal State Relief Fund to help fight the corona virus pandemic.
