After beating Dambulla Giants by nine runs in Match 16 of the Lanka Premier League 2021, Galle Gladiators moved to second place in the points table of the season. Both have won thrice in seven attempts so far, but the Gladiators have the edge due to a better net run rate. Jaffna Kings remained at the top, with five wins in six matches.
Colombo Stars have three wins as well, after beating bottom-placed Kandy Warriors by five wickets in Match 15. However, they have played a game fewer than the Giants and the Gladiators. They are at fifth place, with six points.
