Meg Lanning, the captain of the Australian women's cricket team, has dethroned colleague Beth Mooney as the world's top-ranked T20I hitter, according to the most recent ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings, which were released on Tuesday.
Lanning made the most notable move, moving up one rank to replace Mooney in the top spot after her outstanding tri-series against Pakistan and Ireland.
Lanning shown her class to finish as the series' top scorer with 113 runs from two innings for her nation, despite some bad Irish weather delaying much of the series.
Her best performance came in a straightforward victory for Australia over Ireland in Bready, where she slammed a quick-fire 74 off just 49 deliveries to lead Australia to a big total of 182/4.
In the same match, Mooney only scored nine points, and it proved crucial in the rankings reorganisation since Lanning jumped a total of 10 rating points to overtake her left-handed teammate.
Tahlia McGrath, a fellow Australian, made a significant jump in the most recent batter rankings as well. The gifted 26-year-old rose 15 spots to 13th overall as a result of her own fifty against Ireland.
Despite the Proteas' disheartening series loss to England away from home, South Africa's trio of Laura Wolvaardt (14th), Anne Bosch (21st), and Tazmin Brits (equal 24th) all made significant progress on the list for batters.
This week, England swept South Africa 3-0 as a warm-up for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, with veteran pacer Katherine Brunt being the primary beneficiary.
With five kills, Brunt tied for the series' most wickets taken and moved up four spots to third place among bowlers, behind compatriots Sophie Ecclestone and Sarah Glenn of England.
While her exploits with the bat in the series finale saw the 23-year-old rise four ranks to 16th on the list for all-rounders, Ecclestone also grabbed five wickets for the series to further increase her lead at the top of the T20I bowling rankings.
Jess Jonassen, an Australian spinner, moves up four spots to sixth place on the list of bowlers, while Ashleigh Gardner, another teammate, moves up three spaces to seventh place among all-rounders.
