London Spirit 144/6 in 100 balls (Crawley 64; Milne 2-18) lost to Birmingham Phoenix 148/7 in 97 balls (Moeen 40; Amir 2-34) by 3 wickets with 3 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Zak Crawley.
After making his professional debut five days ago, Chris Benjamin scored an unbeaten 24 in 15 balls to guide Birmingham Phoenix to a three-wicket win over London Spirit, in Match 2 of the 2021 Men’s Hundred, at Edgbaston.
Chasing 145, Moeen Ali’s 30-ball 40 and Benny Howell’s 9-ball 17 helped Phoenix reach 121/6, but they still needed 24 in 14 balls. Benjamin then hit two sixes and a four before Adam Milne hit the winning boundary to take Phoenix home with three balls to spare.
Earlier, Spirit reached 144/6 after being asked to bat, thanks to Zak Crawley’s 40-ball 64 and Joe Denly’s 14-ball 25. Eoin Morgan made a run-a-ball 13 before Howell (2-25) got him. Milne bowled 10 dot balls in his 2-18.
