Let us take a look at the highlights of Match 11 of the inaugural edition of Men’s Hundred that took place on 30 July.
Southern Brave v Birmingham Phoenix, Southampton
Birmingham Phoenix 151/3 in 100 balls (Livingstone 68*; Lintott 2-13) lost to Southern Brave 152/6 in 98 balls (Vince 60; Milne 3-15) by 4 wickets with 2 balls to spare. Player of the Match: James Vince.
James Vince starred with bat to help Southern Brave register their maiden win in the Men's Hundred. Vince hit seven fours and two sixes in his 38-ball 60 against Birmingham Phoenix to guide Brave reach 152 with four wickets in hand, in Match 11, at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. This is now the highest successful run chase in the Men’s competition.
Brave needed nine runs from the final five balls, against Tom Helm. Chris Jordan (17*) then took Brave past the finishing line with two balls to spare. Still, Phoenix’s Adam Milne produced exceptional figures of 3-15.
Earlier, Liam Livingstone (68* runs in 44 balls) and Miles Hammond (44* off 29) forged an unbeaten 104-run stand for the fourth wicket after being invited to bat. Riding on that, Phoenix finished with 151/3 despite losing three wickets early in the innings. Jake Lintott was the pick of the Brave bowlers, with 2-13.
