London Spirit finally registered their first win of the season with a 6-run win over Manchester Originals. Brad Wheal picked up 4-17 after Adam Rossington’s 46 helped the Spirit put 142 on the board.
Eoin Morgan rightly called the toss and elected to bat. Tom Hartley struck early, beating Luis Reece through the gate for a golden duck. Rossington made 46 off just 29 deliveries before becoming the second victim of Hartley.
The rest of the batsmen chipped in with handy contributions. Josh Inglis made 19, Joe Cracknell 15, and Morgan himself made 22 in 16 balls.
The Originals got off a poor start, losing three wickets for just 21 runs. Colin Ackermann and Tom Lammonby then added 66 for the fourth wicket to bring them back in the game.
Lammonby got dismissed on 27, but Ackermann went on to complete his half-century. He got out on 53. Carlos Brathwaite (30 off 19) was well on his way to finishing the game before being undone by Blake Cullen. In the end, the Originals were restricted to 136/9.
