In Match 31 of the Men’s Hundred, Liam Livingstone made a mockery of a 144-run chase against Birmingham Phoenix to secure his team Northern Superchargers a spot in the final.
Coming at No. 3, Livingstone reached his fifty in just 20 balls, the fastest so far in the competition. He smacked three fours and 10 sixes in a devastating 40-ball 92 not out to take Phoenix home with 26 balls to spare. Finn Allen (42 in 26) played second fiddle as the pair acquired 106 for the second wicket before Tom Abell (8* in 7) walked out.
Livingstone’s six-hitting blitz was the joint-highest individual score of the season so far in the competition. Superchargers’ Jemimah Rodrigues got the same score in their opening game of the Women’s edition.
Earlier, Tom Kohler-Cadmore (71 in 44) and Chris Lynn (34 in 25) smoked 65 in the Powerplay after being put in. Phoenix spinners Livingstone (3-25) and Imran Tahir (0-18) as well as Benny Howell (2-18) then brought Phoenix back in the contest. The trio returned 5-61 in 60 balls to restrict the Superchargers to 143/8.
