Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, Oman vs Scotland: Preview, Fantasy Tips, Likely XIs Image

After two impressive wins against Bangladesh and Papua New Guinea, Scotland will be looking to keep their unbeaten run in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 when they take on Oman on 21 October, in Match 10 of the competition at the  Al Amerat Cricket Ground. This will be the last fixture of Group B, where any two of the four teams can go to the next phase of the competition.

Despite their two wins, Scotland must win their final contest of Round 1 to guarantee a place in the Super 12. They will also want Bangladesh to lose against PNG earlier in the afternoon, or at least a win narrowly.

Thanks to their excellent net run rate, Oman, too, can secure a Super 12 spot with a win. Even if they lose, they will have to count on PNG defeating Bangladesh by an unlikely colossal margin – but not large enough for PNG to qualify!

Yes, it is complicated.

Oman began their tournament with a thumping 10-wicket win against PNG, but failed to carry the momentum against Bangladesh. They fell 26 short of the target after being set 154. They will come with all guns blazing in front of an incredible home crowd in this must-win contest.

Oman boast of two of the finest all-rounders from the Associate Nations, if not across the world, Zeeshan Maqsood and Aqib Ilyas. They also have Jatinder Singh, Kaleemullah and Bilal Khan, all of whom can single-handedly take a game away. For Scotland, Chris Greaves, Josh Davey and Richie Berrington will be the key.

Betway Fantasy Tips

- Back Oman. Appoint Ilyas captain of your fantasy XI. Bilal is in excellent form, and can be your vice-captain choice.

- From Scotland, include Berrington, Greaves, Mark Watt, Davey and Matthew Cross. They can reward you with good numbers.

- Do not ignore Jatinder. He showed composure against Bangladesh, and registered the highest individual score by an Oman player in the World Cup against PNG in the tournament opener.

Prediction

Should be a tight contest. Still, Oman have the edge because of the home conditions.
