There were no matches of Group 1 on 5 November, but there will be two crucial encounters a day after. Australia will take on West Indies in Abu Dhabi and South Africa will face England in Sharjah. Barring West Indies, the three others teams are fighting for two places in the semi-finals. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have already played their five respective group games.

After losing to Pakistan in the tournament opener, New Zealand have now won three out of three matches. Their third win came against Namibia, by 52 runs. They are now at second place.
Later in the night, India moved ahead of Afghanistan with an eight-wicket win against Scotland. The Afghanistan versus New Zealand fixture on 7 November, will indicate the second team of the Group to qualify for the semi-finals. Pakistan have already booked their place, having won four out of four games, while their four defeats have put Scotland at last place.
