Indian women’s team ODI captain, Mithali Raj became the first Indian woman to score 10,000 international runs. She did so during the third ODI vs South Africa women in Lucknow.

Only Charlotte Edwards of England had crossed the milestone in women’s cricket before her. She did so in 308 matches, compared to Mithali’s count of 311.

Mithali was the 86th overall cricketer to cross the 10,000 run mark. Cricket fraternity and fans congratulated the legend on her magnificent achievement. Including the little master, Sachin Tendulkar.

Indian eves’ ODI skipper is the 14th Indian cricketer to get to 10,000 international runs after Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Mithali made her debut for India back in 1999 and has since led the team to two World Cup finals (2005 and 2017). She is also the all-time leading run-scorer in women’s ODI and the seventh highest run-scorer in women’s T20Is. She has also played 10 Test matches for India, scoring 663 runs at an average of 51.00 which include a century and four half-centuries.
