Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), an IPL franchise, announced on Thursday that young Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has been chosen as the replacement for the injured seamer Jaydev Unadkat. Unadkat had been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL due to a left-shoulder injury sustained during a training session in the nets.

In a statement, LSG confirmed that they have brought Suryansh Shedge on board as a replacement for Jaydev Unadkat for the rest of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The 20-year-old Suryansh will join LSG for a sum of Rs 20 lakh.

Suryansh Shedge made his way into the Mumbai Ranji squad last season, featuring in the 17-member team. He impressed with his performance, scoring 184 runs in eight games and securing 12 wickets in the U-25 State A Trophy.

The unfortunate injury to Unadkat occurred on the same day as the injury to LSG's regular captain KL Rahul, who hurt his right leg while chasing a ball in the outfield during a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1.

Currently in their second IPL season, LSG holds the third position in the standings with 15 points from 13 matches. With seven wins and five losses so far, their chances of making it to the playoffs will depend on a crucial upcoming match against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata on Saturday.

Suryansh Shedge's inclusion in the LSG squad brings fresh talent and potential to the team as they aim to secure a playoff spot. The young all-rounder will have the opportunity to showcase his skills and contribute to LSG's campaign in the IPL.
