The New Zealand completed a clean sweep, beating the Netherlands by 115 runs in Hamilton to win the third and concluding ODI in their series against the Netherlands.
Both teams made one change apiece in the bowling department from the second ODI. New Zealand brought in Matt Henry for Blair Tickner, while the Netherlands preferred Clayton Floyd to Brandon Glover.
New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat, and lost Henry Nicholls early. However, there was no repeat of the top-order collapse which saw them reduced to 32/5 in the second ODI.
Instead, Martin Guptill and Will Young put on 203 for the second wicket at a run a ball. Guptill eventually fell for 106, having struck two sixes and 11 fours, but Young went on to complete his own century until he was fourth out, for 120, with four sixes and six fours.
A further 70 runs were scored off the last seven overs, as the runs were piled on. With Michael Bracewell hitting two sixes in his brief cameo innings of 22, and Tom Latham made 23.
New Zealand concluded ion 333/8 from their 50 overs. Ross Taylor scored only 14 in his farewell international match.
The wickets were shared by the Dutch bowlers – Floyd, Fredrick Klaassen, Logan van Beek, and Aryan Dutt all took two apiece.
The Dutch began well, with Stephan Myburgh and Max O’Dowd sharing a stand of 81 for the first wicket before both fell in the space of seven balls. Myburgh hit a six and 13 fours in her 64, including a six and 13 fours, was caught off Colin de Grandhomme, whilst Doug Bracewell had O’Dowd leg before for 16.
Vikram Singh and Bas de Leede added 46, before Henry accounted for Singh for 25, , but then three wickets fell with the score on 144. Scott Edwards was caught behind off Kyle Jamieson, and then successive deliveries from Henry accounted for de Leede, who had made 21, and the Dutch captain Pieter Seelaar.
Michael Rippon and van Beek then added 33, with Rippon making 24, before he fell to the spin of Ish Sodhi.
But, although they were well behind the run rate, van Beek at least went down fighting, with some lusty blows over the ropes. The fun ended when he was leg before to Bracewell for 32, and Henry and Bracewell took one more wicket each as the innings was quickly wrapped up after that.
The Netherlands were all out for 218 in the 43rd over. Henry was the pick of the Kiwi bowlers with 4-36.
