India had to wait over another 10 overs for the next wicket as Amelia Kerr batted fluently, hitting five fours in a 39-ball 33. Amy Satterthwaite (63), who missed the T20I, marked her comeback with a decent fifty and added 98 for the third wicket with Bates.
Bates reached her 11th ODI century with a single in the 36th over. Exactly an over later, she holed out to Shafali Verma off Sharma, for 106. The middle and lower orders did not contribute, and New Zealand were bowled out for 275. For India, Jhulan Goswami, Pooja Vastrakar, Deepti Sharma, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad picked up two wickets each.
India had a poor start, losing both openers by 17. S. Meghana (4) fell to Lea Tahuhu, while Verma fell leg-before to Sophie Devine. Yastika Bhatia and Mithali Raj led the recovery with an 88-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Hayley Jensen eventually got Bhatia for 49, while Jess Kerr (4-35) got Raj (59). India were eventually bundled out for 213.
