New Zealand went 4-0 up in the five-match ODI series against India. They won a rain-affected clash at the John Davies Oval, reduced to 20 overs a side, by 63 runs.
Sophie Devine (32) and Suzie Bates (41) added 53 for the opening stand. Devine struck five fours off Meghna Singh in her opening spell before being dismissed by Renuka Singh off the last ball of the Powerplay.
But Bates kept the pressure on, with three successive fours in the seventh over, bowled by Pooja Vastrakar. Rajeshwari Gayakwad then dismissed Bates on 41.
Amelia Kerr and Amy Satterthwaite added 48 for the third wicket in the next four overs. Satterthwaite struck three fours and two sixes for her 16-ball 32, while Kerr remained unbeaten on 68.
Chasing 192, India lost Shafali Verma (0) and Yastika Bhatia (0) in the space of five balls. Hayley Jensen had Pooja Vastrakar caught by Satterthwaite, and dismissed Smriti Mandhana (13) in the next over to reduce India to 19/4.
Richa Ghosh and Mithali Raj added 77 for the fifth wicket. Ghosh struck four fours and four sixes in her 29-ball 52 before she fell to Jensen. Soon afterwards, Raj was bowled by Jess Kerr. The next five batters could only manage 22 runs as India were bowled out for 128 in 17.5 overs.
For the hosts, Amelia and Jensen claimed two wickets each.
